A lot of these people value animals more than humans.
Humans haven't exactly impressed me with their humanity, compassion, or moral underpinning. There are many who have demonstrated by their choices and actions that they have less value than animals IMHO.
Animals are ruthlessly honest and without guile, criminal or sadistic impulse, subterfuge or deceit.
