first of all u/ValkyrieDigitalis thank you because I had no idea this happened until I seen your post.
Second of all, just because lets be honest in general POP CULTURE carry more weight than POLITICS ever can when it comes to the "young folk" -
If we're gonna talk Tennesse we got to talk the biggest name most people know right now - Jelly Roll. He's a reformed felon - veteran of the hiphop but after he turned his life around he embraced his Nashville roots and well now if you know him it's probably for his acolytes in Country music.
Anyway, It's widely believed Fentanyl was a deliberate attack on the US population, in a sense.... a new-era "chemical weapon" - The reason I bring Jelly Roll up is because he stood up and spoke to the Senate committee and used that moment to speak about the fentanyl epidemic, which if you didn't know is the leading cause of military aged males by a far percentage beyond car accidents, homicide, and disease.
For someone who served prison time for selling drugs to stand up and try to explain to these people Fentanyl is a different kind of animal - that takes courage. that takes growth.
The entire thing is like 3 hours long, but these 6 minutes are the part that "counts", one might argue.
Anyway, sorry to kinda derail your post. but, it's just what I thought of when I seen what you shared with us and thought you might appreciate what I have in return my fren
