I listened to the entire clip. He might not be eloquent, but I understand his point. The title is an example of the type of cherry-picking that we hate when libs do it.
The title includes a direct quote that doesn’t need context to comprehend. When he bragged about putting it “bluntly”, the father showed that he cherry picked the clickbait statement himself.
What are you talking about? The father didn't cherry pick anything. Someone else quoted him.
And, yes, the full context is needed to understand. Did you even listen to it and understand his point? He basically said that his son's death was an accident, and that it is wrong to make it political, and that had it been some old white guy it would not have been a topic. Again, he was not very eloquent about it, but the way the tweet on X portrays it is very misleading. So, context matters greatly.
If all he said was "I didn't want my son's death to become a national story" then you'd be right. But that's not what's really upsetting him, he hammered his point that what he really objects to are the 'racists' who are using his son's death as an example of the consequences of unfettered immigration. He's not someone who just wants to be left alone to grieve, he's a liberal cuck who is angry that those gosh darn right wingers were right, and what happened to his son is proof of it.
Maybe. But from the clip what I hear most prominently is that his son's name is being used, whereas if it was not a Haitian driver then no one would have cared.
His point was understood via his clickbait statement, “I wish my son was killed by a sixty year old white man” without more context needed. I suppose I misused “cherry picked” as it usually means targeting specific quotes of someone else’s. I used it in the sense that out of all of the possible statements floating around in his head about his son’s death, this goofy statement is what he specifically chose to say at the press conference, for the purpose of being “blunt”. He cherry picked his own attention-getting phrase.
The illegal may not have intended to cross the center line and hit the bus, but it’s important to look at the probabilities of different types of people having such “accidents”. Per capita, American white men are less likely to do it than incompetent illegals are. Since modern politics are inundated with identity politics, the incompetence of the illegal is a political issue whether the dad likes it or not.
I understand your point about American white men. But that was not his point. You know how we say, "Because the shooter was black, it doesn't fit their narrative... if the shooter had been white, this would be all over the news." He's making the same sort of point: if the driver had been an older white male, the politicians would not be making an issue of his son's death.
Did he explain it like a moron? Yes. I already said he was not very eloquent.
And he did not quote himself... but he said something stupidly that was then cherry-picked and now everyone is jumping on his case. FFS, his son is dead. This guy, regardless of his politics, has lost his son, and he is trying to cope with it.

I don't agree with his political views, btw.

I agree. If he wants to be left alone people should respect that. He put himself on blast knowing he was on camera and being political.
He did put himself on blast. No doubt.
I think I would do stupid things, too, if my son was dead and I was looking to create meaning.
