After completing the research and putting together my post "IMPORTANT FOR ANONS TO KNOW: Multiple Nuclear explosions in Yemen" I decided to light up a cigar and ponder the question: if I wanted to be an effective Shill on a heavily moderated site like GAW, how would I do it?
To be effective and fly under the radar:
I wouldn't be openly hostile.
I wouldn't let myself stand out negatively.
I wouldn't be broadly 'shill-ish' or disagree often.
I wouldn't take positions I knew were unpopular.
I wouldn't attempt to challenge broad consensus.
I wouldn't advocate on behalf of enemies everyone on GAW is familiar with.
I would make several accounts.
I would take time to build credibility.
I would make posts pleasing to the majority.
I would make comments I knew would be popular.
I would be sure to portray myself as patriotic/MAGA.
I would intelligently 'dunk on' the occasional posts/comments that are clearly easy to ridicule.
I would hover around the 'new posts' page to be the first, and therefore likely top comment (Like count).
I would set up multiple accounts in this manner.
I would wait, patiently, for the particular topics relevant to my Shill assignment given to me by my handlers.
I would bet on human psychology, herd mentality.
I would use my multiple accounts to swarm with down votes, ridicule, and 'debunking', whatever sensitive topic(s) or ideas I was sent to GAW to thwart and 'contain'.
By getting to the post early, and with only a handful of accounts, I could easily manufacture the artificial appearance of a 'community consensus' against whatever topic or idea I was assigned to attack.
The only countermeasure to this type of attack is critical, independent thinking on an individual by individual basis. Don't let the perception of the 'majority opinion' distract you away from considering new or 'controversial' ideas. Learn to separate fact from opinion.
Just some food for thought...
WWG1WGA!
Phuckin A ...
I mean, let's say you just so happen to talk about, I dunno...say a killer space robot or something... and before you know it, some pocket protector death ray designer just so happens to toddle in and lets diarrhea fall out of it's face, all over the keyboard and into a thread...I mean, just imagine that for a second. Gee shillakers - gate keepers for sure...
Hahahaha. I remember that one! Justice for Maui!
Yeah... there's a bunch of them.
Some of us are keeping a tally...
AND ... also noticing things like the lack of downvotes from let's say, I dunno, maybe around sundown Friday to sundown Saturnday... and sudden increases in dv activities on a Sunday....Little things like that...
Down votes for benign statements are a real headscratcher.
I know... especially in a thread that should be universally agreeable or beneficial to everyone...
I've often thought that is the result of either drunken voting or inadvertent ham fisting the keyboard. They don't want to mess anything else up at that point and don't dare try fixing it... prolly ages 60+
KEK! I nose what you mean
Too true TaQo...
They are everywhere. With all the controversial shit I post on a wide range of topics, I feel like I give them a sense of purpose. I think I've only ever flagged one, maybe two.
I loathe the sense of tattling to mods but there is one particular one that I was just a bit ago going back through all his post history…
It's hard to say he breaks any "rules" but the totality of his comments…
He never has a single positive or encouraging thing to say about anything to anyone.
Doesn't post on many topics, but the ones he does, he piles onto…
He literally had almost 2 full pages of individual comments on that post from the other day 'Trump exposes the Jews at the fighting antisemitism summit.'
Lately I spend 5–9 hours a day on and off GAW. If you ever see me deliberately not replying to somebody, they are I suspected shill. That's the only real effective way to deal with them. They just muddy the fuck out of posts and steer them so off-topic
Must be over the target tho...
Must be worth attempting to steer people's opinions...
What do they say? Superior attitude and superior state of mind?
Keep firing... we've got your 6
