(also known as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, commonly shortened to MGM), is an American media company specializing in film and television production and distribution based in Beverly Hills, California. MGM was founded on April 17, 1924 and has been owned by the Amazon MGM Studios subsidiary of Amazon since 2022.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was formed by Marcus Loew by combining Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures and Louis B. Mayer Pictures into one company.

Metro Pictures was founded as a film distribution company in February 1915 by a number of "exchange men" with Richard A. Rowland as president, George Grombacher as vice-president and Louis B. Mayer as secretary.

Goldwyn Pictures Corporation was an American motion picture production company that operated from 1916 to 1924 when it was merged with two other production companies to form the major studio, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was founded on November 19, 1916, by Samuel Goldfish (who later changed his name to Goldwyn) ... and Broadway producer brothers Edgar and Archibald Selwyn, using an amalgamation of both last names to name the company.

Louis B. Mayer Pictures (or Louis B. Mayer Productions) was an American film production company of the silent era which operated from 1918 until 1924.

So, from 1915 to 1924, MGM was created by Marcus Loew, Richard Rowland, George Grombacher, Louis Mayer, Sam Goldfish/Goldwyn, and Edgar and Archibald Selwyn.

This was also the era of the Weimar Republic, where Berlin became the depravity capital of Europe, due to the jewish control of the porn industry.
