Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
So I learned that the Aluminum in soda cans [and deodorants] can lead to future Dementia/Alzheimer's.
So this must also be true when [re]heating food with Aluminum foil?
Only one thing aluminium foil is good for, and everyone here knows it!
TIN FOIL MAGA HAT
Reheating food that is acidic and in contact with aluminum is probably inviting trouble. But pans coated with anti-stick "Teflon" coatings are also potentially poisonous. = most air fryers.
Let's put it this way, if you own pet birds, parakeets, cockateils, parrots, etc, one of the first warnings is to not keep them near the ktichen if you use teflon in baking or stove top cooking, the gas off from them can kill them. Canary in a coal mine?
Aluminum is in most deodorant with antiperspirant - Just skip the antiperspirant part and look for straight deodorant. I use old spice. The active ingredient is propylene glycol. That's going to be typical. Unless you're going all natural with rubbing a crystal rock under your arm or that shower to shower "smell like a hoagie all day... yeah...dude ....you stink..." Powder nonsense. Gonna make you look up hoagie if you don't know what it is ...😁
I am convinced that anti antiperspirant, deodorants with aluminum are one of the causes of breast cancer we have seen rise in my lifetime, (born 1950) there are lymph nodes exactly where you apply them. Just read the labels, there are many products sold that say "aluminum free". My favorite deodorant is Schmidts. It lasts a long time and contains no aluminum, and comes in some nice scents. My favorite is cedar sandalwood.
Yeah I quit using deodorants with aluminum a long time ago. I’ve used the Schmidt’s before and one called Native as well.
Yes.. and FIJI water has some special element Silica that gets rid of aluminium.. expensive water but worth it imo
Soluble silica reduces aluminum availability and ameliorates toxicity in several biological systems. It has therefore been suggested that these two species strongly interact in solution. However, there is only weak affinity between monomeric silicic acid and aluminum with reported log Keff of between 4 and 6 at pH 7.2.
