Sounds like you know the Michael Jordans of longshoremen:
Ziprecruiter says a union longshoreman makes 28k-77k.
Salary.com says "The average Longshoreman salary in the United States is $63841 as of September 01, 2024, but the salary range typically falls between $59475 and $69063."
How the F do I know their base pay? Why would I know that?
My friend works there and has for 30 years...he makes $145k and probably works around 70-85 hours depending on when there's back to back ships to unload.
I'll let him know that a guy on the Internet got on assdoor and says you're full of shit... GTFOOH. You're cracking me up over here...
Other than not wanting to limit the amount of money someone can earn in a free, capitalist society, I don't have a dog in this fight.
I'm just trying to warn people of what could happen after the strike happens. I don't see too many people talking about it, and we should be.
The banks are on the verge of failure as we speak, do you think this strike will be enough to push the rest of them over the edge into insolvency? Don't say you weren't warned!
They're freakin HIGH on something...
FYI - I know longshoremen that make $145k right now...
These peckerheads want $300k+. Piss off!!!

They don't make "salary", they're hourly...Busy port they work a lot of overtime....so much for muh snopes. 😐
But that is their base pay. Snopes?
Salary.com again:
"As of Sep 16, 2024, the average hourly pay for a Longshoreman in Michigan is $15.40 an hour."
Whoah big time! If they are working that much overtime I think they deserve at least what your friends make.
