I'm in exactly the same spot. Trying to pay the mortgage and still keep food on the table with only one income is a losing battle. Juggling bills to keep the electricity going is not a pleasant experience. You are absolutely not alone.
Most job postings are fake, done simply so that companies can continue their tax breaks by pretending to hire. The positions never get filled.
Yeah, and the job market is so tight that if you’re not a “unicorn” they won’t hire you. The last interview I had was just like this when the guy lamented that they’d had a hard time filling the position. (evidently because employers have the upper hand and are prepared to wait)
