Most of the ones I’ve encountered have had difficulty with interacting in a socially acceptable manner with peers. Has nothing to do with political ideology.
As someone with Autism. It very much is a double edged sword but I did end up extremely Based.
Though other Autists I know have turned out as stereotypical Leftists.
I have difficulty relating to and interacting with people normally. Which is a regular occurrence with Autism. To the point where I prefer the company of Books, Video Games and Animals to people. Provided I’m not related to said people. I like the company of family well enough
I’ve learned enough to passably fake it long enough to work a shift or attend a College Class. But that’s all it is. Faking it.
And in my experience and from discussions I’ve had with others in similar situations to myself. It’s not overly hard for a High-Functioning Autist to grow somewhat resentful of their normal peers. Even downright Misanthropic.
Unlike some in my position. I haven’t come to hate people in general. Mostly I just find normal people just tiring.
My son was diagnosed @ 2-3 years of age. We were fortunate back then and I was active duty and got transferred back to the general DC area where he was integrated into the Head Start Program.
He too is exactly like you in regards to his social skill sets today as he celebrates his 34th birthday. Now I will go out on a limb and put it out there: my son was perfectly fine until he received his MMR shot. I protested at the time saying he was too early for it. I will go to my grave on this that autism is caused by vaccinations at way too early of an age. To this day when i see a couple with a new born, i plead with them to hold off on the combined multiple vaccines until they are older. But I digress.
You sound like a very intelligent individual who knows right from wrong, etc. Stay your course in life. Good things are coming your way. God bless you and yours!!!
As a former SLP, I used to work with many of them. But most of them were toddlers who were just diagnosed.
I did have a homeschooled HS student who was mostly non verbal. He could read though. He loved computers so I made a video of him reading off emergency language in case he needed to give his name and address.
Eventually after watching himself over and over again, he was able to retain the information to repeat it back when asked. He loved watching himself on video so it was a win win.
His parents were thrilled. Their biggest worry is he would get out and not be able to tell someone who he was or where he lived.
I did know a lovely NZ women with Asbergers, she got a PHD in neuroscience from Cambridge Uni in the UK. I met her while working at Glastonbury festival in the UK. After she got back to NZ she posted "Anyone that supports Donald Trump can get off my Facebook page now!"
So I did, and so did a lot of her other friends, oh the screeching and sperging from her. I told her that is what happens when politics come before friendships.
I think she has gone quite mad now, her facebook has no pictures of any humans on it at all, not even her children. I pray for her.

I guess you can say I'm on the spectrum.
I’m neuro divergent —another way of saying I’m on the spectrum. I think I come across as based and “different” than your average person.
