Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

I will likely cease to work as a math teacher, at least in a brick-and-mortar setting, due to the callous allegations of one confused student with an ax to grind. The past week and a half has been pure hell, and I am tired. I always said that when it was no longer fun, I would quit teaching. Now, as I stand to lose everything due to vindictive parents in a rural Tennessee community, I am seeking comfort in Christ and his teachings because frankly, when this hit, I was thinking about suicide. I can't believe my entire career, first as a decorated US Navy veteran and then now as a teacher for 27+ years, that it would come down to this. Can't really sleep, and when I do, I wake up and the sheets are soaked with sweat. I hope I live long enough to experience the power and beauty of a New Republic. I am suspended now, without pay, over a stupid allegation, and I feel like Job in the Old Testament. I am not asking for charity, just a bit of understanding. Life can be cruel in the most vicious of ways, but I know I can turn to this board for a sense of comfort, whatever little that may be. May God have mercy on my soul.
I recently heard this and thought it would be well shared with you.
“If you feel like you’re losing everything, remember, trees lose their leaves every year, yet they still stand tall and wait for better days to come.”
I once taught in the public school. I made it eight years. I saw a shift in energy during my short eight years. I’m sure you’ve seen major changes during your career. You may not understand it now, but there’s a reason this shift is occurring in your life. God has an interesting way of releasing things from your life that do not align with you anymore. Take care fren.
I will pray that everything will work out for you in the end and I'll pray that God will help you, lend you strength, patience, and perseverance, and always good health and a joyful heart even in the midst of a storm.

Prayers up now! Don't give up! You will beat this! Get s good Attorney and trust God! Try to give it to Him. Pray you can rest well...🙏🤍
Praying for you fren. Think about getting an attorney to protect yourself. Getting legal representation doesn’t mean you are guilty. People are so quick to file suit these days it’s ridiculous. God loves you!
I said a prayer for you, asking for Jesus' personal touch in this situation. His peace poured out on you as you journey through this situation.
Thanks, more than you will ever know, Fren.
