Yes, you have the resources. But they are not where they would be needed right now and you can't exactly use resources that aren't where you are. And looks like they will not get there in time to be useful for what is happening now. The remains will start to rot pretty fast if they are not kept cold, and they don't have enough units for all the dead. Which seems to be the whole point here, and why they seem to be saying they'd cremate if they could.

But moot point anyway because they can't do even that. So they are left with a lot of rotting corpses for now.
