According to the provided search results, Q first appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation in the episode “Encounter at Farpoint” (Season 1, Episode 1), which aired on September 28, 1987. This episode marked the debut of the character Q, played by John de Lancie, and set the tone for his recurring appearances throughout the series.
