Between these and AI, what in the world is the world going to look like in 2 years?
Domestic robots are, like it or not, long overdue technology-wise. As long as the software is open source and Cloud is optional, I actually am interested in it.
We need to rule the technology rather than allowing technology to rule us, and ultimately whether these robots are good for the society or not depends on the people using it and what they do with it.
I can imagine getting one of these to cook healthy meals for the family while we all have more time for us. Just that would make it well worth its $20-$30K price.
The ability to turn off cloud connectivity and data submission to an external target would be absolutely critical.
Would be really interesting for them to say, help with making wood cuts or lifting timbers, or stones, depending on how much physical strength they have.
Yep. I love the current generation LLMs because there are some very powerful models you can run on your own computer, and even at 70% ChatGPT, they are still very useful.
I am thinking the same with these Robots. Completely programmable locally, perhaps even with an interface to one of these local LLMs and let them take care of the heavier part of the daily life.
Would be so fantastic with our parents, for instance, to have them help them with lifting heavy stuff. Thats the biggest risk of them getting hurt right now.
