Between these and AI, what in the world is the world going to look like in 2 years?
I think one thing that needs careful vigilance and attention is this recent push to "give robots rights"
What's next, you gonna be a cop killer if you napalm a robo dog that shot your organic k9 pet? 🤔
There needs to be serious oversight and regulations on AI and androids as they relate to humanity and "status".

The “robot rights” actually would make some sense. If they’re going to be able to analyze things and “think”, we wouldn’t want them to be able to come to the “Skynet conclusion” by maltreatment from the start just because we can and they’re inanimate objects.
A dog, also endowed with the ability to learn and respond to stimuli, may eventually turn on its owner in the presence of abuse. Add logic and access to information and likely networking into that mix, and caution as to how we limit and proact ourselves in engaging with this … “new natural mode”? … would become a very good question. Will they end up reflecting back our righteousness or lack thereof on us?
There do need to be good limits set.
AI SciFi, I believe, has focused on the negatives of AI quite a bit. Both catching up to that and whatever positive trends may become available seems like a good idea.
Defected #90 was covering some of the aspects of the “nostalgic futurism” it looks like we might be headed into. Very interesting thoughts, and absolutely what prompted this post.
