If say that if voter ID is racist, then obviously background checks requiring id is racist, let me buy guns freely.
True
I feel like voter ID is the first step to national and digital. Especially if we are doing a BIG deportation. No one should be left but citizens so why do we need ID - is what I wonder.
Um. Some kind of identification verification is needed, else how do you know all that are left are citizens? Take the government's word for it?
Well, I needed my license the first time I voted. I showed it. Now, every year, they have my signature, and they compare them to the prior year. I live in a small town. The same ladies (wonderfully volunteering their time every year) are always there. They know me.
Something just doesn't fit right about it with me. After 248 years, now we need ID?
Only in the poison cities, where nobody knows anyone. And now in the small towns flooded with strangers, at least until we manage to expel invaders. I'm pretty sure that we don't need national id.
ID isn't just about illegal aliens.. it also stops dead people voting, identity thieves voting, and people voting more than once.
I'd agree that we shouldn't need it, but criminals exist, so we need it anyways. Why would you leave something as important as voting up to "trust me bro"?
How tho? How does me using an ID stop them from including dead people voting? I feel like that is a separate issue. Voter rolls should always be double checked against the dead. No dead people are showing up with IDs.
.. okay yeah YOU personally using ID does not do anything. But when the bad actors try to vote, it's what prevents them from committing fraud. You can't possibly know ahead of time who the bad actors are, so you weed them out by having the same requirements for everyone.
(And don't get me wrong, voter ID does not just solve voting, it only solves certain aspects of it). I guess you are saying if "John Jones" shows up to vote and they are dead, then the voting location should already know that. So that was probably a bad example. But if no ID is required what exactly stops me from showing up at your voting location and saying I'm you? If you don't show up to vote, you would never even know I did that.
