i agree with you about having a simple form of religion. black is black and white is white, kind of thing. no grey areas. but if it were like that, we wouldn't seek His guidance and conversation after a quick read, we wouldn't search Him out nearly enough.
but please remember fren, God wants a relationship with us, not a religion.
so by reading and studying His word and not understanding everything, gives us the chance to have a real conversation with Him by asking Him to reveal to you what He wants you to get. there are several, ah ha moments in the Bible. it's like wow, i know i've read this scripture before, but this time it seems like the first time seeing it. i know that happens because He revealed something to me that i missed and was shocked and even felt stupid when i realized it. (there are hundreds of times i've missed things, this is just a small example).
this is one of the, are you kidding me moments for me. โLet us create man in our image, after our likenessโ....Genesis 1:26.
i always read that God made man in His image. here it says US, OUR image, likeness. by the Bible saying, "us" and "our" image, shows me that God wasn't alone in the creation, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were there. just something small i wanted to share. for me it was like, how could i have read that so many times and missed the US and OUR? it's just cool to me when i realized how i missed such simple little words and it changed the whole meaning for me.
starting with and staying with the 10 commandments is a wonderful start in having a relationship with Him. He wants our hearts to be free and full of joy and not tied up and burdened in so many religious systems that drag us away from the real Him.
I honestly think we need a more simple form of religon. The 10 commandments and that is it for now.
