I'll bet you're right - constructed stars. A remember years ago a girl I worked with went to a Madonna concert and taped her singing on a small, pocket tape recorder. It was howlingly off key and horrible. And this is how fans fool themselves. She thought it sounded great. The rest of us lived in reality.
