I’d be very curious to know at what point the general populace got conned into thinking “income” referred to wages, especially with how many times SCOTUS has made it clear that the term never included wages, but what we now refer to as capital gains. Notice he says the tax was intended only to reach rich people, meaning, owners of income producing assets. It had to have been gradual or people would have revolted. Curious.
