They switched your registration status. If you’re registered as a democrat, you can’t vote for trump but you can legally ask for a republican ballot and they have to give it to you by law. They did this to me and another guy with me last election . They made calls and after 20 minutes I had my ballot., They switch it through other paperwork like car registrations etc where you have to retick your party affiliation if you miss the tick box they switch you to democrat even if you’re already registered. It’s one way California tries to cheat!
This isn't entirely true. I think you are conflating the Primary election with the General. You will most likely have Republican and/or Democrat ballots during a Primary because you are voting for your party candidates or your party ballot issues in a primary.
In the General everyone (in the same precinct) will have the same ballot because you can vote for either party in the General. Even states with jungle primaries get their party's ballot during the primary, but not the general.
