It does happen in the other direction. It just depends on who the deep State candidate is, that they want.

When Florida had touch screens and we voted for governor, I voted for Bill McBride on our touch screen and got Jeb Bush! I started screaming and made them recalibrate as I was a staffer for Bill McBride! We fought until 2008 to get paper ballots. We mark them but our state still certifies the electronic total while our paper ballots are stored for recount purposes only.
