As someone who was born and raised in the ex-USSR, I can tell that these people minority.
In reality most Russians supported the Soviet government and they view the dissolution of the USSR as the biggest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century. Even Putin backs this sentiment.
The funniest thing is that most Russian conservatives support the USSR(the same ones that are ultra religious). To go one step further, they think Stalin is the best leader Russia ever had, beating out Alexander Nevskii and Peter I(narrowly by 1% according to their most reliable pollster)
I can tell you that there a lot of misconceptions people on this board have about USSR in general one of the main one being that Russians didn't support it. If anything, what you wrote was true for the Tsarist government which was basically an oligarchic nightmare, something the dems are looking to turn us into.
Having listened to all opinions, I conclude that the Russian people suffered far more damage under the Bolsheviks than under the Romanovs.
When you 'get it' that Russia & Putin just want to be left TF alone, you'll quickly join the dots. What's underway simply can''t be done without the CIS.
