To safeguard stability, a new continuity amendment has been proposed, allowing members to pre-designate successors through simple rule changes to prevent any sudden shifts in party control following a crisis.
This proposal is not democratic. This is exactly how Harris was “selected”. We cannot have people put into place without being voted in, period.
That's what I was just thinking. There's already a process in place if a senator dies. The state the senator is from, the governor will appoint a new senator until an election can be held. Anything else is unconstitutional.

"How do you slip one in?"
If this is the case they can hold onto Congress in perpetuity and will use Harris as the precedent case.
Absolutely. They shouldn't even have this ability from a Constitutional level.
The governor appointment is a temporary measure pending a new election; this is a governor's direct right to do.
This is extremely manipulable in ways even a governor appointment isn't.
Amen and ITA.
