The day after the 2008 election I saw my first Ron Paul campaign video and realized I had been kept uninformed of his platform. Then I had another 4 years to learn all I could about Dr. Paul and bought "Liberty Defined" and decided to get involved. That was when I knew we were in a manufactured reality and the only way out was to get activated and be a pain in the ass to the establishment. God gave me a role and I was ready to engage. There was no going back to sleep.
His grassroots supporters (at least in my area) weren't very competent at promoting him either. As I recall even the leaflet someone handed me on my college campus told me nothing about his policies, it was pretty much just about character and painting him as a swell guy.
