I need some help fleshing this out. Feel free to add to it.
Acting Secretary of the Department of Defense Chris Miller thanked VP Pence for efforts in "most complex military operations this country has ever conducted".

Miller to VP Pence: “We’ve been through some stuff. We’ve gone through some of the most complex military operations this country has ever conducted...thank you for your leadership... character... selfless service...”
That was December 2020. Three weeks later Pence certified the 2020 election, and the aftermath of that was the passage of the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022. That act specified that the vice president's role at the joint session of congress to count electoral votes is ministerial and that he or she cannot solely adjudicate disputes over electors.

That bring us to 2024, and now Kommublabla is VP and will be presiding over the joint session of Congress to certify the election. ECRPTIA has effectively neutralized the VP in any disputes arising from the count. We know the demonrats have something up their sleeve and are waiting to strike. They've been too quiet since Tuesday but have made it clear they will pull every dirty trick to not certify the election. I'm wondering how ECRPTIA plays into their scheme.
We've debated whether Pence is a white hat, black hat, or gray hat. If this is all part of the plan, I'm of the mind he's a gray hat who leans white. We know he was aligned with Paul Ryan at one point. However, we've seen plenty of people come out of the dark into the light. Maybe he's one of them but has stayed behind the scenes?
Anyway, my thoughts on this are kind of scattered and I find it difficult to assemble the pieces. What say you, my fellow frogs?
Why? Why would it be necessary to put Satan as your second in command to take over if anything happened to you?
Who says he was Satan? Maybe he was a guy they were hoping would come around to the right side but didn't. Why did Trump appoint a traitorous asshole as his Chief of Staff? Why did he have a jealous dipshit he shouldn't have trusted as his Secretary of Defense? Hell, he gave Omerosa a job. She then went on Celebrity Big Brother and slammed Trump.. He has admitted he had blindspots in his hiring process when first elected. He has cited this as the one thing he wishes he could go back and change. I don't see why it is so mind bogglingly difficult for believe Pence could fit in this category. He is either Satan or a secret white hat hero the way people present it.. A classic false dichotomy.
OK.
"Maybe he was a guy they were hoping would come around to the right side but didn't"
yeah, nah. Just my view. I don't think there is any way that the WH operation could put a bad actor, or even a questionable one, in that very key position.
Someone like Sec Def (Bolten), or chief of staff I do not see as being as crucial and critical a position as VP. Those positions can be fired by the Chief Executive, but VP an only be removed by impeachment, if I understand things correctly.
"Satan" was hyperbole, reserved for those that think Pence is a DS scumbag pedo. The dichotomy is unnecessary. But I still cannot reconcile the premise that Pence was a scumbag or even a questionable player. Far too critical a position. IMO.
I don't see how anyone can observe Pence and his Jackass behavior post Jan 6th and think he is a good guy with good intentions. Dude is as much of a swamp creature as they come. He revealed who he was over time, like John Kelly and Mattis and many others. That is the comparison. Reagan was forced to choose Bush. He didn't want to, he had to. Same thing with Trump and Pence. I think there was some hope Pence would come to the right side. He never did. That's why Trump told Pence on Jan 6th he would go down in history as a little bitch. Anyone still clinging to the belief otherwise simply cannot accept reality. The need to paint Pence as a good guy is bordering on bizarre at this point.
Trump has never softened on Pence. He has softened on Hillary more than he has on Pence. That tells me all I need to know. Your argument that Trump wouldn't risk Pence as VP doesn't hold up to who Trump is. He got shot and was going into crowds two days later, against advisement of his detail. He doesn't make decisions worrying about "What if I get assassinated?"
