The Joe McCarthy saga shows the power of the propaganda media and the rewriting of History.
At the start of McCarthy's investigations he had nearly universal support by the American People. As the investigations continued, the propaganda machine eroded that support until he was universally denounced. That denouncement continues in our History books as we learn bout the dangers of McCarthyism and it has become a warning to scare the people in a fairy tale like fashion.
The fact is that many of the people that McCarthy was investigating were communists.
To this day, Edward R. Murrow is venerated as a Hero of the People.
And Cronkite who followed.
Too bad he was never really exposed in his lifetime.
Amen. I looked at my husband one day a couple of years ago and said, "Guess what? McCarthy was right about Hollywood and the Communists. They've been there all this time."
