Not only online but even in my own friend circle. Example- one friend works as an engineer for a company that designs furnature and said that if the tariffs go on they'll have to close their business or lay people off to a graveyard shift, because they import all their wood and their margins aren't that great to begin with.
Trump will have to maneuver this well to bring our production back home without doing too much short-term damage, maybe give businesses an immediate financial incentive to begin buying local product and have some kind of safety net to prevent small businesses from going under. What are your thoughts frens
edit- oh and of course, the raging left is using this as a battering ram to harm support for Trump before he even takes office. It's a literal constant refrain right now on the lefty channels, along with deportations

It will likely be finished goods, firstly, secondly there will be a lead-in period so potential domestic producers will know they can invest in getting product to market knowing they will be able to compete, so it should sort itself out.
As with all things when you propose a change, people assume only that one thing will change, but really there will be a huge set of consequences. Take for an example your friends furniture business may benefit from the fact that all foreign finished furniture is more expensive, so they will become competitive and pick up more business as a result. People will think, why buy this Ikea thing when I can have something made down the road by hand for what now seems like a reasonable price in comparison.
People will adapt, and the adapting will involve more domestic employment which is the whole point. The old ways will change yes, but new opportunities will arise.
