My dear Frens,
Catherine and Bernard were married in the early 90s, just as they both were fresh out of their respective universities.
Bernard always was the most religiously exalted of both but, despite a few crises, they managed to keep their relation up and running until now. They have 5 kids and a grandkid was born sometime last year. Thomas, their second son, is my Godson. He’s a very nice and bright young man with a shining professional future. He’s the one who panickingly contacted me about this matter:
During the last summer, Bernard and Catherine went to visit Benin, a western African country where Catherine got seduced by a younger local.
Catherine, whom Thomas decribes as a cringe 15-year old brat, now declares she’s about to dump Bernard and settle with her lover either in Africa or in France. That young man, whose name I don’t know, is already the father of two young kids, which says something about his capacity for engagement as a husband and father, but also suggests, like many of his fellow people, that this might not be about Love, but rather about resettlement.
Thomas told me neither he or his 4 siblings are looking forward to even meet the young«Romeo», and, even if their father gave them a hard time, they gladly side with him.
I beg you to join me in prayers so Catherine opens her eyes and modestly admit she’s been «bewitched» by the prospect of a younger ardent lover. I pray Bernard forgive her and also adjusts his own self so they can remain together as a happy couple until death do them part.🙏🏻
You never mentioned how either Catherine or the 'other man' are financially supporting themselves. If neither of them are independently wealthy, this whole thing may peter out in short order. Then, the decision is Bernard's to make on whether the marriage continues.
Catherine is a speech therapist, she’s the one earning a bit. Bernard is continually depressed and doesn’t seem to want to find a work.
The other guy is 40 and still in Benin.
