No it's not, it's a cop-out or a bribe at worst. Out of all the anti-competitive practices they could've ruled on, out of all their businesses, particularly advertising, they picked "you have a popular browser" as their case, where it will hurt them rather marginally. Still doesn't cast any light into their search result manipulations, and they will be able to get a sizable load of cash, while still retaining significant leverage.
One step at a time. We can get them a little later on other things.
Correct. Competition is a better solution to those other problems anyway.
Amen.
100% agree. Some competition in search would be better. Not to mention, paying for Adwords is about the only way to get decent search results with them.
Just so y’all know, many school districts use Google to implement the “online” aspect of each teacher’s curriculum. For example, in the district I taught, we were required to have a google classroom for each class period in which the assignment for each day was posted. Absent students were supposed 🙄 to check the GC each day in order to keep up with assignments. During Covid, everything was posted via google classroom. So many avenues for spying on kids.
I know in WA, there's classes that actually teach outdoor skills. There is a school where teachers would take kids out of the class and in the fields. It's so popular. No Google or computer. You need boots, rain gears, and warm clothes.
Oh my goodness....kids were actually taken into nature and shown trees, weeds, flowers, animals...and they liked it? This should be outlawed. Only sterile classrooms can lead to a child's mind getting nurished, not some jaunt to the outside world where insects can bite, asthmatic kids can inhale pollen, and animals can attack. What is happening to our schools? We need MORE indoctrination centers or all will be lost. (of course this is all sarcasm for any liberals who will take my words and twist them around)
LOL. It's such a popular classroom those yuppies were paying top dollars to send the kids and furnishing them with gloves, hats, rain gears and lunch. No cafeteria out there.
That would be an awesome class for both students and teachers! 😁
Yes.

This is a move by the deep state. That tells you all you need to know.
Got it.
I don't know, unless there's some white hat tie in I don't see it as anything other than superficial.
They don't give a FF about monopolies, they being the GOV. We're surrounded by monopolies that are monopolizing even more under BlackRock and Vanguard.
Be interesting to see where it goes though, I've been on Brave for a while now but was a staunch Chrome user for years. I think it was on X22 last night I saw Rumble expressed interest in buying the browser.
Brave is based on Chromium just like Chrome.
I didn't know that until now. I should just use Firefox then.
People should make their own decisions but I use Firefox!
The same people also make an email client called Thunderbird. When I tried to install MS Outlook on a new computer I caught MS "helping" me by copying all my emails to their server! I aborted that upgrade and now use Thunderbird, too.
So now, I have both browser and email that will run on Linux when MS goes that step too far with Windows.
I did not know Brave is Chrome. I used to be on Firefox.
Yes. I have heard it on X22. Do you know it's the first time I have seen BlackRock commercial on tv? I think the monopolies of DS are falling apart.
Aside from hoping so, I can't see it any other way than they must.
Google's motto was do not be evil but they turned evil.
I hope BlackRock gets crushed into a million pieces. They are the most evilist corporation on this planet.
Think about our 401K and social security not mandated and required to be paid through employer.
BlackRock and Vanguard would instantly disappeared.
Everyone manage their own fund.
