Why can't he meet with him? I mean, he might as well see what Alex has to say, and establish a relationship. Just because someone is seen as an "enemy" doesn't mean they shouldn't be dealt with and left to do what they do. They can talk. That doesn't mean Elon is going over to his side, it doesn't mean Alex is going to Elon's side. It just means they should talk and establish a relationship. I don't see this as all bad.
