Took my dil and granddaughter to ballet yesterday at Kennedy center. They have never been and as I hoped, they were enchanted with the opera house, the production, the Kennedy exhibit, the views...everything. they both want to return. My dil said "I had no idea!" My plan is to present a much better experience.
Slowly introduce the idea of "culture"... great literature, great music, great art. Once exposed to Joseph Conrad, Beethoven, Mozart, Ralph Vaughn Williams, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and other icons of Western civilization, it's hard to go back to the cotton candy of Disney et al.
