I don't think anyone actually believed it. I know I would pardon my son even if I were to loose my presidency. Its my son. I am not shocked, nor angered. It is as I expected.

They didn't believe it, but they used it to try and attack Trump until the election was over.

For me it's not about shock or anger, but repulsion towards the dishonesty.
