My parents paid Medicare taxes for 50 years but still have to pay a $174 ($185 in 2025) premium on Part B and $50 for Part D (drugs). Medicare is full of holes so they had to buy a Supplemental plan for another $150 a month. Their medical insurance premiums are now $200+ MORE a month than last year when Dad was still working…AFTER 50+ years of medicare taxes! I keep trying to make the math work but it doesn’t .
That's why I shake my head when I hear the cry of "Medicare for ALL!" Monthly premiums must still be paid and additional insurance must be purchased. What the morons really want is Medicaid. Some people have Medicare AND Medicaid and they still complain about paying out of pocket for services.
Add Medicare to that list.
