Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

My BP or heart rate gets up during stressful times especially when I’m rushing in traffic and think I’m Dale Earnhardt Sr (race car driver). Then at dr office my BP is high. However I don’t feel bad. Years ago when BP was very high at times I felt very bad. It would make you very tired and feel like you are going to pass out & that was on medication. Once I had panic attacks a few times and really thought it was my heart. Scared me so bad I called my mil who was a nurse. I was seriously thinking about going to the ER. Thankfully I don’t have problems with either anymore. It can put the fear of God in you really quickly.
I do see that my family member seems to be tired all the time, even with the medications. I don't think there have been any panic attacks but I'll check this out. Glad to hear you are doing better.
Hey, I’m still researching and also have been busy lately. For the Parkinson’s, if I had something that serious or cancer I’d see a naturopathic doctor. They are very expensive! However I don’t trust mainstream doctors or hospitals because they don’t attempt to cure. Even if the cancer leaves you have a lifetime of “preventive” meds that don’t always work and horrible side effects. I’m not bashing all doctors. They saved my life almost two years ago. I still see doctors but use caution. To start researching symptoms of Parkinson’s. Then research herbs, supplements, cbd, minerals that might help the symptoms. I find good info on YouTube. You have to weed out the crazy ones. Once you/they decide what herbs to try ask me or others what’s the better resource. I usually buy herbal tinctures from small businesses that forage the herbs and make them. Essential oils are great for many conditions (aromatherapy). Some brands are basically watered down, always check out the company. Another note even some doctor/natural medicine give gov sourced info pushing gov acceptable diet, grains, certain greens; I just don’t trust that. We each have to make our own decisions. Thanks, on the feeling better note. I really think it’s simply giving body time to heal, weight loss and especially diet.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I agree with everything you've shared and will pass these suggestions along to my family members. Thankfully this husband (who has Parkinson) and wife who takes care of most everything for him are based and open to this type of information.
Here’s a few sites and things to look up. If I find more I’ll send later.
https://www.indigo-herbs.co.uk/ Search Parkinsons: I’m seeing several results. I personally wouldn’t buy from them because they are in UK. They have always had good information so I use as a resource.
https://www.rjwhelan.co.nz/ I don’t see Parkinson’s in the search. Possibly helpful information under N - nerve. His site has good information in general. Well respected in herbal community.
I searched Parkinson’s on YouTube. I don’t have time to dig into each video. Usually what I do for my own needs is watch several videos on the topic and search online. I also follow herbalists on instagram. Then I evaluate the information. Is one herb mentioned by different sources? If yes I then study that herbs benefits. I saw a video by Dr Berg, I believe he’s reliable.
https://www.youtube.com/live/_FsuO_dOR4M Dr Ken Berry Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s. I’ve watched many of his videos. His story is interesting, primary doctor giving the standard advice to patients with diabetes. Fast forward to years later and he’s either diabetic or pre diabetic. He follows his own advice and finds out gov recommendations don’t work. He starts studying different diets and eventually finds results with carnivore. His wife eats keto. They both have YouTube channels. He touches on many diseases in his videos.
https://youtu.be/VF5_mMJi8bg Dr Shawn Baker, this is a short clip. It’s possible he has a longer video. He’s very much awake! Has started an online/video conference medical practice. I don’t know details of this. I’ve been following him about a year. He’s also pro carnivore. I’m not pushing this on anyone! Just sharing what I’m finding. It’s possible algorithms are pushing the people I watch to top of my search results.
https://youtu.be/Ty5l5ZF10qY Dr Anthony Chaffee interview with person that has or had Parkinson’s. I didn’t watch this. His videos are extremely long, but usually has good information. Some as long as there hour, I usually watch it over several days. I read the transcript. It’s a quick way to see if it’s helpful information. On the mobile app (might be possible on PC) transcript is a ways down the info/title. Click on more. Dr Caffee has an interesting story also about going carnivorous. He says he doesn’t eat any plants because they make him sick or feel bad.
https://youtu.be/RCYt6X8l0yI Dr Anthony Chaffee’s dad diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I didn’t watch, in transcript at 25:14 (your experience with your father having um parkinson's disease). It’s possibly worth watching entire video. FYI: if you have seen him tell his story about getting into carnivore you can fast forward in other videos if he mentions it. Usually says same thing. He interviews people and others interview him, so I’ve FF a lot😊
Again, not pushing this. I find it interesting so many doctors are eating carnivore and have turned away from the standard medical BS pushed by gov & big pharma. Dr Chaffee is a neurosurgeon and lives in Australia. He has the most content on the subject. If you don’t like YouTube I think he’s on rumble. My internet is too slow for rumble.
Always remember herbs can interact with prescription medications. Mainly causing RX to be less effective. It takes several weeks to months to notice benefits from herbs. Unlike RX what works for me might not work for you. Basically in nature there’s multiple uses for one plant and most plants have multiple benefits.
Hopefully this will get y’all started on research. If I find info on high BP I’ll share.
Your welcome. I’ll include them in my prayers. When I find more info I’ll share. I need to get herbal medicine books. Most online search engines push big universities, hospitals and gov sites when looking for herbal medicine. Many people here don’t like YouTube and that’s their right. I find a lot of good information there. I also follow herbal medicine accounts on instagram that are very helpful for basic information. If they live near a Chinese medicine store that might be a good resource. I don’t know enough about Chinese meds to speak on it. I buy Dr Christopher’s herbal supplements. I don’t take them regularly, only when I’m sick. There’s other good brands as well.
