How about the disabled guy whose only crime was taking some Pfizer drug that caused a stroke, leaving him unable to work and very little quality of life remaining, yet one of his only remaining joys is oreos and milk? Not everyone on food stamps is a dirt bag. Some are just stuck.
I'd agree, However, I think the idea is not to deny a small indulgence like this, but to prevent people on the government dole from filling their carts with nothing but junk and soda (sorry, that was a bit redundant), as noted in the article. The Federalist does lean toward small government, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt here.
