This will give him more experience in both interviewing and dealing with the press. It will also provide him some income to last until he runs for Governor, or until he goes to do whatever Trump wants him to do.

No way this is a permanent career change. If it was, he would have surely been picked up by a mainstream-media organization. I think he was placed there to bide time while staying involved. Remember - a lot of Trump's appointees tend to not last long.

I still think he will be a special counsel/prosecutor once Pam Bondi is ready. If not - Florida governor.

edit - maybe Trump put him there so he can bring him into the administration in the 3rd/4th year as a recess appointee.
