Canadians are our brethren the same way Californians and Manhattaners are. Though ideally Canada joins with each province becoming a state. The Great Canadian North will be our new untamed wilderness.
Maybe we can unite some American states to make it easier?
We can unite Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming to make a Mountainous Texas (call it Idaho since that was the territory name). Unite the Dakotas.
To keep it fair, we can also unite New England (Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut).
And also unite the Virginias, so that Republicans have a chance to win.
If we then unite the Maritime provinces into one state, then we just get 6 new states (assuming Quebec independent). Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba would be GOP states. BC, Ontario, and Maritime would be Democrat states, with BC being a flip state.
That would be a pretty big state that we don’t need. Just saying.

Each province being a state would be WAY too many senators.
2 senators for the whole shebang. Unless you can divide it up to ensure most of the senators are Republican.
