Gee - if only we knew someone that could absolutely help with that...

You don't understand. That's why they had to abandon Camp Century. Over time, the ice is plastic, not rigid. That is why glaciers "flow." Even the "tunnels" they built not far beneath the surface were warping out of true. Some things are not worth the trouble to go after. And we don't know if there IS anything to go after.
Oh, that's a very interesting. I wonder if the boring machines could periodically run down through the ice or something to keep them true. Interesting answer.
WTH are you talking about? Yeah the glaciers flow. They can make their way across Greenland over time, hit the ocean, and start dropping in making icebergs. That's how it works.. However the ice is almost 2 miles thick and mot "plastic".
Here's how/why glaciers flow.

Because it is plastic is why it flows, and why it becomes distorted. The bottom flows as well as the top. That is what your reference points out. It is what I was telling you. If ice was rigid (like granite), it would not flow at all. (The pressure at the bottom of a column of ice transforms the ice into crystalline structures that are not present at normal pressures. Consult a phase diagram for water to see how many numbered kinds of ice there can be. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phases_of_ice) (Yes, I know that even granite or basalt will move in the presence of fault lines, but that is over geological time, not human civilization time.)
So, you admit that glacier ice flows. Then you have to realize that trying to bore tunnels into that kind of substance is a losing game. There was too much movement during the tenure of Camp Century, which is WHY they had to abandon it.
Why can't we just move it closer to the equator and wait for the ice to melt?
