Greenland is rich in rare earth minerals that we need to make our own semiconductors. China now is not selling them to us and we have to be fully self reliant. I believe this is a strategic move.

But I see that this is all subject to approval of the government of Greenland. Denmark's position may be more along the lines of "Greenland is not ours to give." Perhaps similar to our relationship with Puerto Rico.

Who says it is "rich in rare earth minerals"? Most of Greenland is covered in ice, so who was doing the survey drillholes?
