“Denali” is transliterated Russian (into a native language?) for “Big Mountain”. It could be two words combined, such as de-nali, or den-ali.

During Russian ownership of Alaska, the name of the mountain was Больша́я Гора́ (Bolʹšája Gorá, “big mountain”), the literal translation of Denali.[2]
