MERRY CHRISTMAS, FRENS! JESUS CHRIST IS KING!
👉🏻 Link to yesterday’s post.
Holy Father, Your ways are mysterious. I went to bed soon yesterday so I could take the road early today to visit my Mum. In the middle of the night, I was woken up by a bad nausea: was it the monkfish liver I sautéed with butter? There were many episodes and ultimately I left the bed groggy enough to phone Mum about coming another day. She obviously was really unhappy but then, we know we come for the weekend when I am feeling better as I obviously cannot drive, nor attend a rich Christmas lunch at this time, even my coffee mug feels suspect to my nose but then, the machine has to be cleaned upand rebooted. I praise You for this resilience and pray You make Mum serene until we meet.
AGENDA
👉🏻 Today we celebrate Anastasia of Sirmium.
Saint Anastasia (died December 25, 304 AD) is a Christian saint and martyr who died at Sirmium in the Roman province of Pannonia Secunda (modern Serbia). In the Eastern Orthodox Church, she is venerated as St. Anastasia the Pharmakolytria, i.e. "Deliverer from Potions" (Ἁγία Ἀναστασία ἡ Φαρμακολύτρια).[3] This epithet is also translated as "One who Cures (Wounds)" in Lampe's A Patristic Greek Lexicon. Concerning Anastasia, little is reliably known, save that she died in the persecutions of Diocletian; most stories about her date from several centuries after her death and make her variously a Roman or Sirmian native and a Roman citizen of patrician rank. One legend makes her the daughter of a certain Praetextatus and the pupil of Saint Chrysogonus. Catholic tradition states that her mother was St. Fausta of Sirmium. Anastasia has long been venerated as a healer and exorcist. Her relics lie in the Cathedral of St. Anastasia in Zadar, Croatia. She is one of seven women who, along with Blessed Virgin Mary, are commemorated by name in the Roman Canon of the Mass.

See you tomorrow, Frens!🤓
Mary!🤗💐
It’s okay, I am both serene and more intrigued by your cooking than disgusted. Anne left, I will clean up then play piano, then binge watch something not too complicated, like Stallone’s “Tulsa King”.
It's good to know you have your day planned out. I suppose Anne is going to visit her Mum and relatives. I pray she has a safe trip.
I will be cooking again soon. What a time for our water heater to go out. George put it in new about 3 years ago. We thought the pipes froze but water comes out. He hit the 'reset' button on it with no hope. He checked the wires and even went to the electrical box and reset the breakers. NO HOT WATER. So I have been heating water on our stove to bathe and do dishes. We can't buy a new water heater or any heating elements until after Christmas. I wish he would put in the gas water heater we had. I never had any problems with a gas one.
But I WILL SURVIVE THE DAY. Just another arrow Satan has shot at me. It will all turn out good.
Again, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!
Mary...your travesty has reminded me that when we visited my maternal grandparents they used water from a hand pump outside. No hot water. We took baths in a big tub put in the kitchen...there was no bathroom since they had an out house which was down the path a bit.
My paternal grandparents lived in the city and had indoor plumbing but no hot water. They did exactly what you are doing also. I am glad that we have all the conveniences of a more modern age, but sometimes we get a taste of what it was like for our ancestors.
It sounds like you will have a wonderful day with your family despite these setbacks. When it rains it pours and these diversions make us appreciate even more the wonderful upgrades we have seen in our lifetime...have a wonderful Christmas with you family...
You too my friend. Yes, it sounds like our grandparents lived about the same. Outhouses and a well with a bucket that you pulled up. Hot water kept hot on a wood burning stove. All the conveniences of their Era. But I remember. I have had to do this several times in my life, but it's okay. I can hand wash without the dishwasher I suppose. KEK!
So you enjoy this lovely day of our Lord's birth with that beautiful family and the freedom God gave your daughter. May you all have the GREATEST Christmas ever. God bless. Time to go heat some water. LOL.
It just takes longer but we are able to accomplish the same goals...roughing it essentially...that is always fun!
