Wow...man what a timeline. To the point of u/FiveDogs below, my buddy works for a company that has been laying people off and yet still have open positions and he thinks it so the shareholders think everything is on the up and up
They aren't hiring, they're posting open positions so they can collect resume's for when they are.
Or its an internal promotion that due to local laws they're required to publicly list.
Or any other in a long list of silly bullshit companies do to obey insane local employment laws and regulations even though they aren't seeking new employees.
You might change voting registration to independent or even democrat to get the job and then change back.
My brothers wife couldn't get hired as a teacher until she did that.

We are seeing zero hiring. My company has been laying off for 30 months. But there are still jobs posted.
most companies lie about hiring to make employees feel replaceable and keep them quiet otherwise they would ask better wages.

Identity theft is one that is on our radar, and agreed, companies are not in mass doing this without some sort of legal coercion.
