Weeks ago the Military locked things down after an election. Then the President was impeached.
Now the Acting President has been impeached...
If you’ve kept track of South Korean Politics at all. This isn’t actually particularly unusual.
I think all but 1 of their previous Presidents. Has either been impeached, imprisoned or executed. Sometimes all 3. Usually by the incoming administration ever since they started having regular elections again.
The Country could be considered a failed state by that metric. But the relative strength of their economy and Cultural and ethnic Norms. Allows the current state of affairs to persist and new Governments to be elected.
Could be the South Korean Military is finally starting their phase of domestic cleanup. Reportedly the President didn’t want to activate the Military Lockdown. But was persuaded to by his SecDef and Senior Commanders.
With Rumors indicating that the show at the Parliament/Congressional Building. Was a distraction while more Soldiers and Special Investigators raided their Elections Agency.
