Makes a bit of sense. A parasite would have to have some method of jacking with immune response in order to survive. If that "ignore me" signal were too strong, it could lead to unhealthy cells that need to be removed by the immune system being ignored as well.

I don't know that that would cover all cancers, but I could certainly see it being involved in some.
