The law doesn't say anything specific about what products or services they are required to provide during those six months. Or that they need to continue employing anyone. Looks to me as if they can just remain "open" with empty shelves or just a couple bags of dry beans and a security guard and call it good.
If you don't feel comfortable homeschooling for whatever reason, there are free online accredited public schools funded by your tax dollars. See schools like Connections Academy and K12. Parents have full access to the curriculum, and your kids study from your home under your supervision. If your local public school is failing your kids, you don't have to go it alone.
