What benefits does nicotine have? I just bought some nicotine gum.

I smoked for a long time, like 20 years bit eventually kicked it. You know what did it? The vapes that you used to see people with a lot that blow out large clouds. The thing about these is you can get the juice in different amounts of nicotine, including 0. So you can work your way down to the minimum nicotine amount, 3mg in my area, and then eventually switch to 0. It took me a year and a half to go from a 12mg to 0 to putting down the cape permanently. Its about slowly changing habits too like what you are doing when you usually have a smoke..... It kind of happens naturally in a way.
The bonus is you don't smell like shit when vaping and there are a lot of great flavours.
The other trick is to not use these other vapes that use cartridges, as they don't have a 0 available.
Anyway this is probably unsolicited advice. But it made quitting easy for me and I felt like sharing.
Yes I know that I threw away actual cigarrettes about 14 years ago and went to the vape which is what I still use today.
I did exactly that but I ordered the juice online because I could not stand the vape juices available at the vape stores. I always ordered enough to cover 6 months of juice and I went down to 0 nicotine too. I was actually good for about 6 months on 0. Then one day my order came in and I did not realize they had sent the juice with 12 mg nicotine so by the time I went through what I had I was already addicted again. Instead of going down I went up and for the last 5 years have been getting the vape juice with 18 mg nicotine.
