I think Sotomayor had emeince/domain/purview whatever they call it. I think Merchan pulls a fast one tomorrow and imposes light jail sentence. Maybe PDJT does 10 days (darkness/darnkess) in jail? Released for inauguration.
Normies will never understand that Trump is not a felon. Final judgement and sentencing hasn't happened, so until that point, he has only been convicted by a jury, which Is somewhat meaningless without the final say from a judge, after the fact. The war for public opinion wages on.
Let's regroup this time tomorrow. I hope that's all it is. It's a bit too late to change from a video hearing to in-person at this point. He could sentence him to home confinement, however. Maybe even an ankle bracelet for show. That would be hilarious, actually.
In the sauce I provided above the last sentence in the TGP article says,
Judge Merchan is not going to sentence Trump to any prison time and will allow Trump to appear virtually.
TGP has typos and gets some things wrong sometimes so as always, we shall see.
But I've heard the quote from other sources as well.
This is all an effort to formally "convict" Trump. It is my understanding that while even though the jury found Trump guilty, the conviction isn't in place until the sentencing hearing takes place.
This will all be appealed, but its the whole going along with the Lawfare of the fake case that annoys me so much. Why are Roberts and Barrett going along with the games?

It's a 5-4 SCOTUS decision, not eminence/domain/purview, etc.
Judge Merhchan has already stated there will be no sentence and President Trump can attend virtually.
The whole point of the "sentencing' hearing is the act of sentencing "formally convicts Trump as a felon."
This entire fake trial is 100% political lawfare Roberts and Barrett are going along with it. They are complicit in the sham as far as I am concerned.

It's my understanding that the sentencing hearing is exactly what formally "convicts" Trump.
So after tomorrow, even without actually being sent to jail, the judge plans to convict him and then let him go. And he plans to do it all virtually.
It's just one big effort to formally convict Trump as a felon.
We'll see what happens. But as of now, Roberts and Barrett are going along with the Lawfare.
Correct, I just mean up until that point

Everything is optics. Just don't be surprised when Merchan feints. Let's see. I hope you're right, but the math is there for 10 days...
