There’s no significance to not putting your hand on the Bible. It’s not required at all, not even from a religious perspective. Jesus actually tells us not to swear.
Jesus tells us not to take an oath at all (Matthew 5:34-37). And Trump certainly took an oath. Jesus tells us nothing about whether or not you should place your hand on a bible when you do take an oath.

You're right, and swearing to or by anything at all is "of the evil one".
