those services listed are know process/resource hogs and actually make your pc run worse. The built in windows defender does a better job, but to each their own I guess/
I mean it's built in, I don't personally use it but I was saying that even microsoft is better performance. Nothing against you using it. Glad it works for you. Just have had too many bad run ins with it over the years.
But I can agree, I pray anything billly boy gates has touched goes poof haha.
Linux can't get better quick enough but I'm glad it's getting more and more adoption, Free and Open Source FTW!
Not necessarily. Windows defender is just as good in detection, is free, and then there is malwarebytes no slow down better detection if not on par with mcafee and has a free and paid version.
Its more that mcafee if bloated and half the stuff your computer already does for you i.e. cleanup stuff and general maintenance items.
It's like saying the tires are whats making your car slow. Not the fact that you are hauling a trailer with half your house on it. (A bit exaggerated for the house but it's just for an example). The engine/os isn't the issues it's the trailer/ bloated anti virus program.
Also i do have issues with windows, but this. This is on mcafee for not optimizing or not caring yet taking people's money for it.
TL;DR you run slow and get the same if not worse protection than free or other paid alternative. Just avoid Norton please and thank you. 😊
I fell for Norton when my cable company cancelled the program they had.
It is a nightmare! They keep offering me extra services for an extra 68 bucks that the Windows program did inclusively.
What does someone smart recommend for an old windows 7 that I don't want to change until there is an honest new system.
I did try Linux once but I am too old for that ;)
If you are concerned with having a secure computer (everyone should be) then you really need a new computer capable of running Win11 if you want to stay on a Windows OS.
ALL intel cpu processors prior to gen 8 are hackable. That is the reason for Win11 absurd system requirements. Win11 is built to integrate with new hardware level security found only in the newer chips. And, the older operating systems will not work properly, if at all on the newer hardware.
Windows 11, plus the new hardware needed to run it actually is that "honestly new" system you referred to.

Thanks, but that's not been my experience.
Windows defender (virus + solution brought to us by Bill Gates)? Microsoft Windows ... makes my skin crawl.
Someday, someday, over the rainbow, everything to do w/Gates will EVAPORATE.
IMO

Run worse but protect more.
It's a Windows problem you describe.

No worries I don't pay for anything.
Those days are over
