Pete Hegseth cleared a procedural hurdle Thursday to advance his confirmation to lead the Defense Department for a final Senate vote, setting up a high-stakes showdown.
A motion to invoke cloture, or begin up to 30 hours of debate, passed 51-49. Republican Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, voted no on advancing Hegseth's confirmation, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., voted yes.

HELL YEAH
FU Murkowski.
FU Collins.
Thank you for a clear post on this.
Sauce?
time to work on the weekend and get this boss confirmed
My understanding is that that vote was whether or not to send it for a FINAL vote, which should be this weekend.
Right.... But my question is does the final vote usually fall along the same vote or do some senators change their minds/votes
That vote was from a committee, advancing him. His confirmation vote will come from the entire Senate.
Reports this morning make it sound as though it will be a tie, in which case the VP casts the deciding vote.
