Slightly off topic but have you ever seen the doco How Wolves Changed Rivers? https://youtu.be/ysa5OBhXz-Q?si=ePxkeG826FYkpJuk (5 mins long). It shows the damage that can be done when man interferes with nature - just like the Smelt. The Smelt maybe toxic to other wildlife, we just don’t know everything. And when the decision is made due to “climate change” we need to understand that these who make these decisions are politically motivated and money is always involved. When man interferes by removing or protecting just one species, the consequences can be devastating.

How many people have to die for the smelt and the plant that was being stepped on [maintaining power lines as I recall]?
Meanwhile, other fish and other wildlife eat smelt, and wildlife can tromp on the plants.
